Gold Diggers of Jammu

Not as famous as the giant gold digging ants of our state, these guys scavenge the drains of Jammu city’s Jain Bazaar for gold that inevitable finds its way into the drains while being processed in shops. The drains of Jain bazaar are leased out to various people for gold digging.

  1. Dear Vinayak, Glad you have acknowledged Jammu people as well. Spent 1st year after exodus at Kali Janni near Sabzi Mandi, did'nt knew drains were auctioned in Jain Bazar. Seems like our Muslim brethren in Valley, Dogras are going to be just as much part of our civlisation ( if u can call it one.) Frankly at times i miss Jammu more then valley though i spent only 31/2 years there. Dinesh

  2. For all my reading on Kashmir, it is Jammu that I truly know. I know most of its lanes and by-lanes. I can't say the same thing about kashmir. If I was suddenly air-dropped into Kashmir, I will be totally lost. Can't say the same about Jammu.
